Artist Questions
1. Why should I use I Feel Music?
We are a growing community that is unique, different and completely artist friendly. Our mission, our goal, is to help you build a Supporter base and offer you a way to follow, help, support, and keep up with your favorite fellow artists as well. We will be exploring lots of ways to help artists with easy promotion, marketing and exposure tools.
2. Are There start-up costs?
Absolutely not! Accounts are free. Most of I Feel Music features are free. We have an Eco-Pro subscription option for extra exposure, promotion and marketing, but you will not find yourself completely restricted by not using it. We want to focus on offering more to artists that want it, and we are constantly thriving to make it better all the time.
3. What is the difference between Basic and Upgraded profile?
You can view some of the differences here.
4. How much money does an artist get per song?
One song purchased: Depends on how much someone chooses to pay when they checkout. But let's say there is a song for $1. After all is said and done, the artist on average receives about 63 cents, the charity 18 cents, PayPal gets 10 cents as the merchant and we get 9 cents. All songs are set to a minimum amount of 80 cents, but during checkout, Supporters get to choose the amount they would like. We have variable pricing for all songs.
Multiple songs purchased: This makes it difficult to say the exact amount because if they purchase more songs, the merchant fees might be less and the artist might receive more. But it always goes like this: After PayPal transaction fees, 70% goes to the artist, 20% to the charity and I Feel Music receives the remainder which is 10% -- this is our don't go broke, stay in business and eat decent food fee. As a courtesy, we also track the amounts that actually go to charity for you and you can access that info from your Dashboard. We do this to assist you with whatever financial info you may need regarding actual amounts that went to charity.
5. What are the song upload sizes that are available?
Files sizes should not be larger than 100mb. Uploading songs should work on all modern browsers. There is a known issue with some old browsers If you see something that does not work, please let us know so we can track it and fix it.
6. I'm having trouble uploading my songs? Why?
If you are experiencing any difficulty at all, please let us know. We will go above and beyond to assist you with getting your songs on I Feel Music. Really old browsers may have some difficulty at times. We are in the process of testing this throughout multiple browsers, but there are a lot of them. So, you letting us know makes us very grateful.
7. Can I edit my songs after I upload them?
Yes. Anytime you want to. You can edit the details, switch the charity, change the image, remove, hide, delete, or edit the file. Note: previous file will still be available to people who purchased it, but will not display on the site otherwise.
8. How many songs can I upload?
We do not do a restriction on the amount, but rather the current space. All free accounts have 100mb of space. Eco-Pro Upgraded accounts have 500mb. We will adjust this over time to add more if we need to and the demand is there.
9. I'm having trouble uploading my songs? Why?
This could be because your file is not the proper format, or it could be that you are using an old browser. If the latter is true, please upgrade your browser and try again.
10. Can I delete or Hide my songs?
Yep. When songs are hidden, they do not show up on the site. Deleting songs means they are completely gone, except that people who supported and purchased that song still get to keep a copy in their download section. Wouldn't be fair otherwise...
11. How many times will I be shown in the spotlight?
This is hard for us to predict. it depends on user activity, how many profiles are visited, searches are done and all that, but you will be displayed.
Note: Eco-Pro accounts have detailed statistics which show their actual spotlight counts, song plays, streams, profile hits and other cool stuff.
12. Can I see who supports me and the amount they gave me?
Yes. You can view yourself on other people's profiles and you will be notified via email whenever someone supports you on I Feel Music. We include their name, total and profile in the email. Even better, we have an accounting and thanks section which lets you view your sales with complete transparency. You will see the complete breakdown of your sales and where all the money went. You will also be able to send a followup thank you note to the buyer for every sale and we track it so you can also view what you wrote to them.
13. How can I promote myself through I Feel Music?
Just like anywhere else, you can share your profile ( ifeelmusic.com/yournamehere ) with your friends, fans, announce it on other social networks, your website, etc. But take advantage of posting I Feel Music updates regularly. This quickly shows your info to other people on the site. Link your facebook and twitter account so your posts are shared there as well, complete your profile, add details, be creative, interact, have fun, and don't be afraid to show support for fellow artists. It does not always have to be a competition. Help others, give more, be proud and help us make things even better.
14. Is there a widget that can be put on my own site to promote my songs?
The I Feel Music player lets you grab an embed code that you can use wherever you would like. We are working on some other widgets and hope to release them sometime after Beta.
15. How do I invite my friends to look at my I Feel Music page?
Send them to ifeelmusic.com/yourchosenurl anytime. If you are on one of our servers that has a c1.ifeelmusic, c2, etc -- you do not need to add that. In fact, we do not recommend it in case we need to move your profile to another server for maintenance, or whatever. We rarely would need to do this, but the best bet is to use something like: http://ifeelmusic.com/jeremy
16. I’m an artist. When do I get paid for my digital sales?
When your account balance reaches $20, we will be very happy to send you your money. Makes us smile, actually...
Payments are made on the first business day (Monday – Friday) of every month. Just make sure that you have the correct PayPal email address in your account settings so we can pay you.
17. Can I still sell my songs on itunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, Cd Baby and so on?
Absolutely! You are not entering into a non exclusive agreement with us at all. You are free to do what you want with your music. That's the way it should be anyway!
Charity Questions
1. How does this work with the Charities?
Every song on I Feel Music has a charity associated with it. There are two options when an artist creates a song on I Feel Music.
1. They choose a suggested charity, but let the Supporter choose an alternate charity in the cart prior to checkout.
2. They choose a specific charity that they want for the song.
The Difference: One lets you choose the charity, the other is because the artist wants to choose.
2. Can I choose my own charity?
This option exists for most of the songs on I Feel Music. When in your cart, you will see an option that lets you choose the charity. If the artist has chosen it, then you will see the charity name there, but no option to choose another. Some artists want a song to benefit a specific charity and this gives them that freedom and opportunity.
Note: During our beta launch, we have chosen to work with one charity. Our system can easily handle more and is already set up to do so.
3. How much goes to charity and how much to the artist?
4. How do the charities and artists get their money?
Whenever an artist has a balance of $20 in their account, or a charity has $50, they are paid out. The first business day of each month, we pay every artist and charity that has the appropriate balance. Artists are paid via PayPal and the only thing that would prevent this is if we do not have a PayPal address to make the payment to. Charities are either paid out online or via check.
5. How is this all tracked?
We have a very nice system in place that lets us track things as they progress. Each charity shows the amounts raised as well as their current status in the system. This is viewable from the charities page anytime.
6. Will you expand on charity options in the future?
Absolutely. We look forward to growing a vibrant and healthy community of people that respect creative endeavors, want to support artists as well as fellow artists and basically help others worldwide!
7. Are these charities paying you or are you in cahoots together?
Nope. We simply like them. A lot of the charities are music related. Sweet Relief Musician's Fund is awesome for artists! Basically, we want to put together a tribe of free thinkers, do something different, experience the Navajo Taco. Ya know.
Supporters, Points & Common Supporter Questions
1. What are Supporter Points?
Whenever you support a song by purchasing it on I Feel Music, you earn points. Purchase a song for $1, you earn one point. If your support amount is $2, then you earn 4 points. Basically, everything after one is times itself. Examples: $3 = 9 points. $5 = 25 points. So $20 would equal 400 points, and it goes on. If it is an odd amount, say $2.37, we round it. Good times.
2. Collection
If you turn it on in your settings, your collection will show the actual songs you purchased and the charity you chose. Default is we show the number of songs in your collection, but we do not show the actual data unless you choose to have it show. Respect, ya know.
3. What do I get with my points?
Currently, this is just a fun feature, but we have some really cool ideas on how to incorporate it in the future.
4. Be Proud Of What You Do
It takes a lot of guts to back artists, causes, people and things you believe in. Supporting others and being supported by others is a true honor. We treat it that way here at I Feel Music and we are proud of that.
5. I purchased a song. How do I get it?
All of the songs you purchase are available from your Dashboard. Click the ' My Collection' option. Emails are also sent to you after checkout, and these have direct links to your songs so you can download them.
* We do not believe in removing your items and they will be there as long as you have the account.
If you buy it, we want you to be able to access it freely at any time, but please do download it just in case. Accidents can happen. If one does, please let us know so we can make it right.
6. Is my donation tax-deductible?
If the country you reside in allows you to deduct it, then yes, it is. The charities on I Feel Music are all legit and allow tax-deductions. We track the actual amount you donated for you and you can easily view this either by song /transaction, or grouped together so you quickly see the amount that went to charity per fiscal year.
7. Is my donation secure?
Absolutely. We do not keep your private info. In fact, we do not even see it. We have nothing to do with charging your credit card or account. That is completely done via PayPal. So security is as strong as PayPal makes it, and I hear they do a pretty good job at that too. You don't become the number one online payment system in the world by slacking in that department.
8. Do I need an account to make a donation?
Yes. We do this so that you can securely download your songs and have access to them. Plus, we cannot track the info for you, or prove that it was you if you are trying to deduct amounts on your taxes without an account.
Songs on I Feel Music: Supporting. Feel It. Song Alerts. Helping Others.
1. I purchased a song. How do I get it?
All of the songs you purchase are available from your Dashboard. Click the 'My Collection' option. Emails are also sent to you after checkout, and these have direct links to your songs.

2. Feeling Songs and Feel It?
The Feel It button you see on the site is a way to choose songs that you enjoy, want to help promote, and what you like, or better yet... feel. When you click, it counts your vote, the number goes up, and it turns green kinda like the Incredible Hulk, ya know. If you're already feeling it, the number goes down when clicked, and it turns grey. Then, the tab on your profile 'Feeling' shows the songs you're Feeling.
3. What are Song alerts?
Ahhhh. A very beautiful thing. We're biased on this one, but we do love our song alerts. Say you have lots of followers and you are supporting a lot of artists, but truthfully, you don't want to know every single time any one of those people creates a new song on I Feel Music. Maybe you do, but it is really tough to keep up with. I Feel Music Song Alerts lets you turn on notifications for artists you truly want to know about. Then, we send you a very simple email update whenever that artist creates a new song. You can turn the Song Alerts on or off quickly from any artist profile, or manage them from your Dashboard.
4. What is the Spotlight?
The spotlight displays featured artists throughout the site and our goal for the future includes, well... you'll see.
5. What is the 'Collection' tab section?
From your account settings, you can edit or choose:
Option 1: Display a Collection Tab On My Profile And Show Songs And Charities I Support? -- What this means?
What you choose upon checkout will now display on your profile
Option 2: Display And Allow My Support Amounts To Be Shown On My Helping Others Tab? -- What this means?
Same as above, but with the actual amount you supported
If you do not want to share this, just keep these set to no.
We do this to assist you with whatever financial info you may need regarding actual amounts that went to charity.
Dashboard: Account / Profile Settings
1. What is the Dashboard?
The Dashboard is where you manage things, configure your settings and profile information and basically access and make changes to your data.
2. Can I send a private note?
Yes, but we are not big on unnecessary spam. So, we currently have it set up that you can send private notes but you must either search for a name or know the username of the person you want to send the note to. Of course, you can easily reply to any note you receive. You can also choose to shut off private notes, but we don't recommend it. We are pretty open on this area, and know that we will need to change some stuff along the way...
3. Am I informed through email if I get a private note?
Yes, but this depends on your settings regarding notifications on the site.
4. How do I post to Twitter?
You can configure and set this up from your Dashboard. Just choose the twitter option. After you authenticate your account with Twitter, you might want to head back to edit your settings and the info sent to twitter from us after authentication. Just choose the twitter option again.
5. Will I be informed through email if I get new followers, private notes, comment?
Great question. If you have email notification on in your profile /account settings, then you will receive notifications about private notes. We do not currently have it set up to inform you about new followers. Instead, we think a list of recent followers on the page you login to is more relaxed. This is something we can add though if the that is the way you would like it to work. Guess, we will just play it by ear.
6. How do I modify my Profile?
After logging in to the site, go to your Dashboard. Then Choose => Edit Profile Info.
7. Can I change my profile name?
Yes. You can change your name anytime you wish from your account / profile settings, and you wont even need a new passport, ID, or other bureaucratic nonsense.
8. Can I change the email address associated with my account?
Yes, you can change or update your email address at anytime from your Account / Profile settings located in your Dashboard.
9. I forgot my password, how do I log in?
Please use our Forgot Password option from the login option of the main menu.
10. Why are accounts suspended?
Accounts are suspended if we are made aware of abusive activity, spam, or copyrighted material being used illegally. If you are here to just be a part of a great community, chances are you have nothing to worry about. If for some reason, your account is suspended and you feel that it was a mistake, please let us know about it.
11. Can I change my account type into a different type?
Yes, please contact us regarding this via our contact page.
Photo Questions
1. I have trouble uploading my photo. Why?
Formats we accept are .png, .gif, jpeg, and jpg. There is not really a size restriction, more a space one. Images and songs go towards the space limit for your account. Keeping smaller files for images means that you have more space for songs. Definitely the smarter idea.
Sometimes, after uploading a new song or profile image, you may need to refresh your browser cache to see the new image. This of course depends on your browser settings.
2. My photo looks stretched out?
We do our best to crop photos and make them look clean. Sometimes, some photos still just do not work everywhere. The best thing to do is upload an image that is the same size... a square basically... i.e. 500 by 500 pixels, 800 by 800 pixels, etc.
Comments Questions
1. Can anyone comment on my profile?
People who are logged in can make comments on songs via Facebook from any artists song details page. We do not currently have comments on profiles. We prefer using updates and replies for that.
2. What is the difference between a reply and comment?
Replies are used for all the Updates. Comments are used for song comments and other stuff and are set up using Faceebook social tools.
3. Can people comment on my song?
Yes, people who are logged into I Feel Music can easily comment on your songs.
4. Where can I see song comments?
You can see and edit comments from any of your song details pages. You can also subscribe via the comments page as well.
I Feel Music Charts
1. How do the charts work?
The charts on I Feel Music are based on total song plays and interest. All artists are eligible and songs are automatically placed in the all time charts, as well as the genre charts. You can view charts for This week, This Month, or All Time. Currently, we offer chart data with no history removal. This might change in the future, just meaning that we might display one year of info instead of several.
2. What do the icons mean?
![]()
* A song must rise in the Charts 10 places in order to be considered hot.
3. Are there Prizes?
During Beta stage, perhaps not for a bit, but definitely this is something we want to include soon. Not only restricted to the charts, but within various aspects of the site. Not to toot our own horn, but we have some pretty good ideas for the future on this one...
Money questions / Payment System
1. What are the Transaction Fees?
Basically, transaction fees include PayPal merchant fees since we use them as our merchant and I Feel Music keeps 10% from each transaction as well. We call it our stay in business and eat real food fee, but I guess transaction works as well...
2. How do the charities and artists get their money?
Whenever an artist has a balance of $20 in their account, or a charity has $50, they are paid. The first business day of each month, we pay every artist and charity that has the appropriate balance. Artists are paid via PayPal and the only thing that would prevent this is if we do not have a PayPal address to make the payment to. Charities are either paid out online or via check.
3. How much money goes to charity and how much to artist?
4. Can I choose how much money I want to be given to the artist and to charity?
Yes, we have variable song pricing. 80 cents is the minimum but you an choose your price when you checkout.
5. Is it secure to purchase songs?
Yes. We have nothing to do with charging your card or account. That is completely done via PayPal. So security is as strong as PayPal makes it, and I hear they do a pretty good job at that too. You don't become the number one online payment system in the world by slacking in that department.
6. Is there minimum or maximum for how much I can support a song and charity?
The minimum is 80 cents. The maximum is whatever limit you have on your PayPal account.
7. Are there any confirmations that the charity received money? How do I know that money really goes to charity?
We can be as skeptical as the next guy, but yes, of course we are truly giving the money to charity. We post the numbers live as they occur. We track everything and you can feel free to contact one of the charities that state PAID OUT on the charities page and check on us if you'd like. I'm not sure if they give out that info, but nonetheless, we are out to be a reputable, successful community and tribe. Lying about something such as this would be an immediate dealbreaker on our end. Kinda seems like it would be a stupid decision really, wouldn't you agree?
8. Do I have to sign up if I want to support the artist or charity?
Yes. We do this so that you can securely download your songs and have access to them. Plus, we cannot track the info for you, or prove that it was you if you are trying to deduct amounts on your taxes without an account.
9. Are you showing the actual amounts that supporters give on the site?
Only with their permission. We have a feature called Collection which will either display the song, charity chosen and date that it was supported on the supporter's profile and updates, or the same thing, but with the actual amount that was supported. This is turned OFF by default and must be turned on by you. It's a lot of fun to see what others are collecting. So while sharing the info is not required, privacy always respected, etc. we really do encourage sharing this info.
10. Can my amounts stay anonymous?
Absolutely. Whatever makes you comfortable. Just have fun.
11. What is a transaction fee and why does I Feel Music take fees?
Basically, transaction fees include Paypal merchant fees since we use them as our merchant and I Feel Music keeps 10% from each transaction as well. We call it our stay in business and eat real food fee, but I guess transaction works as well... Let's say you pay $1 for a song. The artist gets about 63 cents, the charity gets 18 cents, paypal gets about 10 cents and I Feel music gets about 9 cents. In all actuality, these are excellent numbers. Selling a song on iTunes for a dollar only gets an artist around 65 cents or so through a standard distributor and that does not include helping charities. I Feel Music almost accomplishes the same thing. Are we trying to compete with iTunes? Are we insane? Nope. we're just doing our own thing.
* Lots of songs on I Feel Music sell for more than the minimum 80 cents or even a dollar.
12. I’m an artist. When do I get paid for my digital sales?
When your account balance reaches $20, we will be very happy to send you your money.
Payments are made on the first business day (Monday – Friday) of every month. Just make sure that you have the correct PayPal email address in your account settings so we can pay you.
Notifications, Suspended Accounts, Copyright , Account Removal
1. What email alerts am I getting from I Feel Music?
Currently, we send a notification regarding changes to your account status, such as suspensions, important info, changees in policies, subscriptions and all that. If you get a Private Message in your Inbox, we let you know. We have a newsletter as well, which is separate, and you can turn this off if you'd like, but we suggest keeping it on. We are not into spam. If you subscribe to song alerts, you will receive an email when that artist creates a new song. We are currently working on exact notifications, but want to do it in a non obtrusive manner. We'll update this accordingly.
2. Can I turn them off?
Yes. Via your account/profile settings, you can turn off notifications, disable song alerts, remove yourself from the newsletter, hide out in a shack, build strange things and hopefully not have a last name that start with 'K' and a first name of Ted.
4. How do I submit a complaint about copyright, impersonation, trademark, or other Terms of Service issues?
5. How do I delete and remove my account?
Delete your account anytime. It seems futile really, but if you want to... You can click here.
Please remember that if you have any current subscriptions, that you must remove those via PayPal.
Help & Contact Questions
1. How can I contact I Feel Music?
2. What is the difference between contact and Help?
